-Most songs in this record and the previous one are about breakups.
-No Surprise is about a girl who always runs off with guys besides her boyfriend.
-Hello Lonely is about the divorce of Tyler Conolly's parents.
-Say Goodbye is about a couple who want to leave each other.
-Santa Monica is about a girl who leaves to Santa Monica to start again.
-Better Off is about a man who thinks he is better alone.
-Since You've Been Gone is about a man whose girlfriend dies because of drugs.
-No Surprise, Santa Monica, Better Off and Since You've Been Gone were released as singles in Canada. In The U.S.A, No Surprise, Say Goodbye and Hello Lonely were chosen as singles.

-"Wait for Me" and "All or Nothing" are about family problems.
-About the title, "scars" are emotional wounds that you've had through life.
-"Souvenirs" connote happy times and good memories.
