The very original version of "Tainted Love" is credited to Gloria Jones. The song was however popularized by Soft Cell. Marilyn Manson's cover seems to be based on Soft Cell's interpretation of the song.
Scott Weiland used to sing for Stone Temple Pilots and is now part of Velvet Revolver.
